Rest, Recharge, Relax
We just returned from 16 beautiful nights at this cozy cottage, and we already miss it! The property is located on a picture perfect spot with a waterview and stunning sunsets. The cottage was a little small but artfully decorated and very very cozy. A previous reviewer spoke of too much furniture, but we were able to move things to our liking and we had no issues. The views from every window offered another chance to soak
in the peace and quiet and beauty of Nova Scotia, and the air and breezes off the ocean were refreshing. The kitchen was small and we cooked on induction burners which was a great learning experience for me. The bathroom has a small sink and stand up shower and plenty of shelf space. The owners were wonderful and responsive before our trip, during, and especially when we lost power during Hurricane Dorian. They even fed us! Despite being right next door, they were not intrusive and respected our privacy. The screened porch was a blessing due to the 2-3 week mosquito outbreak that of course happened during our stay. It provided a respite and we were able to enjoy our coffee and wine and the sunset without getting bitten up! My husband was able to set up his easel and happily paint and sketch. The backyard is also a private cozy oasis with a gas grill (which we cooked on a lot) and the alder twig fencing all around the property and the cottage is truly a work of art. We were entertained every morning by a rooster and guinea fowl, that raced around the property, as well as Jack the Border Collie, and his cohort Lyla! Andrea and Rogerio are pet friendly and we appreciated being able to bring our dog Chase with us. When we did venture out, the roads around the property led to some beautiful close by beaches, and downtown Port Medway where we enjoyed the Port Grocer.....a local and delicious hang out for food and music. Across Highway 103 in Mill River we found the Riverbend Country Store and Cafe and enjoyed breakfast there a couple of times. It's located on a river with views of a one lane old bridge and the food was delicious and reasonable. The property is located on the south shore with easy access to Halifax (2 hours) Lunenburg (45 min) Liverpool (15 min) Mahone Bay (1 hour) and The Petite Riviere Vineyards (15 min)
Great opportunity for wine tasting! Star Gazing is SPECTACULAR!!!! Thank you Andrea and Rogerio, it was a pleasure to get to know you and enjoy your beautiful cottage!
Good location with drawbacks
Located on a beautiful point with perfect view of the water from the screened porch. Hosts are friendly and respect your privacy. Drawbacks-not as clean as other VRBO’s we’ve stayed in; too much furniture for the 700 square foot cottage-always tripping over it; king size bed is actually two twins combined; very small shower with limited lighting and slippery base; tap water infiltrated with salt water so you shower in salt water and have non-potable water from the faucet; hosts had to provide drinking water in large containers; horrendous mosquitoes which make it difficult to enjoy the property- they even get inside the cottage and car. A local even asked how we were handling them.
Relaxed and recharged
Once again, a wonderful week exploring the beauty of the South Shore. No end to the beautiful beaches within a short drive away. Andrea and Rogerio's Enchanted Cottage is everything you see in the pictures and more. A truly beautiful and unique property with west facing views for stunning sunsets. While home we spent all our time in the screened in porch listening to the birds, the water, the bees and insects. Pt Medway village is a welcoming, charming and active community with the Port Grocer as its anchor. Get there for a Thurs or Sat dinner, Sunday brunch or Friday Pub night if you can!
Thank you Bronwen and Allan (and Nigel too). Lovely having you as guests!
Beautiful spot. Gorgeous piece of land in nice small town. Close to lots of beaches. Cozy cottage. Was exactly what we were looking for. Little pub/ restaurant/general store in town very friendly and good for dinner on thursdays and Friday’s. Beautiful place to explore. Close to Lunenburg, Liverpool and Mahone Bay. Chester was especially nice. Had a wonderful stay and would highly recommend the place to anyone
We stayed 8 nights in this enchanting cottage! Everything was as pictured and described, even better. Peaceful, serene setting with gorgeous grounds! Andrea and Rogerio were the perfect hosts. They allowed us our privacy but were always available to answer questions or make suggestions.
The screened porch was a great bonus. We had our coffee and breakfast out there each morning and looked forward to our daily visits from Rusty their gorgeous rooster and the guinea fowl. Every evening when we returned from our daily explorations of the beautiful Nova Scotian coutryside we sat in the screened porch with a glass of wine and watched the spectacular sunsets. The night sky without the interference of artificial lights was breathtaking. Wish we had been fortunate enough to see the milkyway but it just wasn't in the stars this time! Maybe next time.
We saw seals several times in the cove right from the dock. We highly recommend Friday Pub Night at the Port Grocer in Port Medway. We spent a fun evening dancing with the locals to a wonderful live band! Thank you again. We enjoyed our stay immensely. It was just what we needed! We hope to return again.
Kim and Steve
Thank you Kim and Steve. We are glad that you enjoyed your stay so much!! We hope to see you again!
Enchanted Acres is precisely that. It's a secluded, wonderfully constructed cottage with stunning ocean views and complete privacy.
Andrea and Rogerio are wonderful hosts who gave us great suggestions for day trips such as exploring close by white sand beaches.
Port Medway is quaint and a perfect base from which to explore Nova Scotia's South Shore.
The cottage has everything you need including a lovely screened porch to enjoy coffee in the morning or wine at sunset. The sunsets are gorgeous!
We highly recommend it. One of our best vacations! Thank you for everything.
Christine and David
Thank you Christine and David. We are glad that you enjoyed your stay, and we hope you enjoyed the alternate route that you decided to take home!
