We spent a week in the house and we’re amazed by all the nice touches like kites, lawn toys and hiking sticks. The property has character like sloping floors and a great deck. We found the house perfect for our needs. We will be back!
Peace and quiet in a breath-taking setting!!
We had a great stay at John's property. The location is ideal. This was our third trip to Cape Breton and we already loved the area. The 'sunset' side of the island is the place to be!! It's about a 20 minute drive to the entrance of the national park and in the opposite direction you have beautiful beaches in Margaree and PortHood as well as the culturally rich area of Mabou and the Highland Village in Iona, all full of great music and culture! The beauty of the area is stunning and breathtaking, but the beauty of the culture and people make Cape Breton one of my favorite places on earth, and I've visited a lot of places :)
The property itself is clean and comfortable. The wide open yard is a great place to play with the kids and to view the stars at night!! A clear night in Cape Breton means a sky full of stars!! Amazing!! It is about a 15 minute hike down to the water, but very doable and well kept.
The manager, Bruno, was very friendly and helpful. The owner, John, is very attentive and helpful as well.
We travelled with our 4 children and having 2 bathrooms sold us on this property :)
We would definitely stay here again!! Whether or not you've visited Cape Breton before, you will find a home away from home there!! As they say, 'your heart will never leave'
We loved our stay at John’s home! His house is very comfortable and well equipped with anything you may need. It was nice being able to meet Veronique. We greatly enjoyed the yard and the tub of toys as they provided many hours of entertainment for our toddler. It was a great location for being close to the Cabot Trail and hiking trails. It was also close to restaurants and grocery stores. We would come back and stay here again (except for the fact that we live way too far away to return to Cape Breton)! We had a very memorable trip and loved our stay here. Thanks John!
August Family Get-together
Lovely comfy home to stay in with welcoming hosts. Great location to walk on the beach, sit by the ocean, have family time, go to town or visit the park. Thanks for everything!
Clean, comfortable and cozy with breathtaking views of the ocean.
When I first entered the house, I felt wrapped in a familiar blanket. It reminded me of my visits to Cheticamp as a child. The light-filled front room was a lovely place to enjoy the ocean views and start and end a day of touring. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen and bathroom immaculate and everything one needed to enjoy a visit was provided. The house has been lovingly appointed, and a browse through the history notes and journal on the desk in the front room is a testament to how much the house has been loved over the years.
Lovely rustic cottage on spectacular property in the heart of cabot trail.
This place was perfect for our family of 5. The main floor had a very large eat-in kitchen, and a comfortable sitting area at the back of the cottage, overlooking the vast property. Upstairs there are 3 small bedrooms (beware if you're tall because the ceilings are slanted!) all with comfortable beds and a bathroom with a hot & full pressure shower.
The property had wild blueberry patches which my kids loved picking, and we walked down to the private - SECLUDED beach and my kids enjoyed finding seashells & rocks on the beach, my older son and husband even went jumping in the giant waves.
Cheticamp is just a few minutes away and has anything you need in terms of grocery shopping, restaurants, delicious coffee at the Frog Pond (a must!). The cabot trail is stunning even though we only drove half the distance around (because the kids are still little). The host was very easy to deal with and offered some great advice as to what hikes and other activities we should do with the kids. I would highly recommended this place for a family!! We had a wonderful stay here!
