Fine place to stay
Was a fine place to stay. air conditioning worked well. Had everything we needed including snorkeling gear and beach towels and chairs. Only disappointing items were the bar soap, shampoo and the extraordinarily firm bed. Soap so small about the size of a quarter almost funny. Shampoo ran out in the fist day but we bought our own. Would stay there again and bring a mattress topper
It's in a great location, the price was right, and it was easy to book. Nothing fancy, but it had a king size bed and a decent, spacious kitchen. It's right next to the beach by car, where parking was free. It's a perfect spot for a couple on a budget, and a bit of a squeeze if you have a third person (but totally do-able).
Good deal, great location, easy, graceful, clean, lots of tips in this review!
My pregnant wife and I stayed here with our 21 month old toddler and we loved it.
LOCATION: perfect. Walkable to nice beaches and the Turtle Bay Resort. Our favorite walkable beach: right on Kuilima Dr, right past helipad (Paradise Adventures) on a dirt road through the trees. There you'll find a beach with a keiki pool—a pool naturally protected from the waves by rocks. Perfect for small kids to wade in the ocean water, play in the sand at the shore without fear of waves, and explore the life in the tide pools. Even if you don't have kids, it's a great beach and much less populated than closer to the resort. The resort pool/bar area has live music at times (sunsets, I think) which was nice.
Short drive to so many north shore gems—Waimea Bay Beach Park (cliff diving, swimming, and more; this beach has it all), Shark's Cove (nice big protected pool for kids and beautiful sunset wading), Kuhuku Superette for poke, Giovanni's for garlic shrimp, .
CONDO: We love the ground floor lanai (porch) which faces out on lawn and trees and is more private than we expected. It was great for our baby to have a place outside to play and a place to eat outside.
The place appears newly renovated (as of 5/10/2019) with great quality appliances—fridge, stove, microwave, and dishwasher are all excellent.
The bedroom is down a hall from the living area which was nice for putting our baby down to nap. With the second full bathroom and aerobed, the place would work great even for 2 couples.
The place was clean and well cared for.
It was easy to baby-proof with painter’s tape over the outlets and moving glass and chemicals to higher cabinets. Some furniture has sharp corners, though.
We never had any contact with the property manager and no need for it. They have a good system and complete communication.
ISSUES: These are the opportunities the place has in our view, all minor:
–A beach shade structure/popup tent or similar. The beach umbrella has trouble staying put in even slight wind.
–The only cleanliness exception was the couch and chair which looked a bit worn and did not look or feel fully clean so we put towels down. The upholster material is just not the best for a vacation rental we think.
–A real kitchen knife for cutting pineapple and such. We used a steak knife for this because the only bigger knife was so dull as to be unusable. It worked out fine.
This was our second stay at Kuilima Estates East and may not be the last. We highly recommend it.
The place was very clean. The furniture in the living room needs to be replaced.
It was impeccably clean and well equipped. The television set quit working correctly toward the end of the week. The location was fantastic. Living room furniture is worn out.
