Salle(s) de bain
Family road trip through South East Nova Scotia
This place is amazing ! We (family with two teens) drove in from Ottawa, hoping to relax and spend some quiet time together before touring the south shore of NS- this house was perfect. The drive down Digby Neck is picturesque. The house was far from everyone but still close to the small town of Freeport. The long laneway is a very bumpy gravel/stone road. Again worth it! We found the house very clean and so comfortable, daybeds to lounge in, big comfy sofa to watch a movie (great DVD collection) but the very best is the lower deck by the water. I spent most of my time watching the tide go in and out. We also saw some harbour porpoises and seals. Lots of birds, one morning two deers walked by. Great sunrise too! There’s a bit of noise from a fishing boat at the fishing operation during the day. But again it’s worth it! The kitchen is well stocked and has a great view. Everything was very comfortable and we would absolutely recommend this place to anyone. We were able to relax and rest. The town itself is small, no restaurant while we there but there’s a general store the offers you the basics plus pizza and yummy ice cream. There’s a short ferry ride to Brier Island that has a few shops and restaurants and great hiking trails- we bicycled the most of the island visiting coves and lighthouses. The check-in was very easy and we had lots of information regarding the house and what to do. We plan to return soon.
Off the beaten path!
We were looking for a quiet family vacation with an ocean view and found the perfect spot! This was definitely “out of the way”, but the house was beautiful, the view was gorgeous and the rocky coast was fun to explore. Our only disappointment, if you can call it that, was that there wasn’t a BBQ. But apart from that, the house was well equipped! Would definitely recommend a stay at this house. The sun rise from the deck was amazing! We also watched many porpoises swim by and a couple seals as well.
We recently spent a week at Hemlock House. The house is very comfortable and clean, awesome views, secluded, beautiful sunsets, and convenient for whale watching tours. Unfortunately, the lane to get there has many potholes, there is daily noise from the salmon fishing operation immediately in front of the cottage, the water had an odour and left orange residue on clothes and skin, there is no bbq or decent deck furniture, and the fireplace does not work.
