Chenenga Cabin on Kenai Lake
We absolutely loved our stay here! It was so peaceful and the views are amazing!! We could sit on the porch or look out the windows for hours. The cabin itself is so cozy and absolutely wonderful. It's like stepping back in time with no running water, propane lights, and a wood stove to enjoy when it's cool at night. We can't wait to come back!!
A very special place
We loved our time here. The lake and property are beautiful and it is very peaceful. It was our favorite part of our Alaska vacation. The cabin is suitable for a small family. We enjoyed the special touches of games and field guides. Fun to identify all the wildflowers growing right next to us!
The property is beautiful. The cabin is right on the lake with it's own dock. It is serene, quiet, and private. We enjoyed the use of the Kayaks and took many hikes (to Lost Lake and to Victor Creek, part of the new Mt Marathon trail). I practiced yoga and read on the dock. The fireplace on the deck kept us warm on the cool summer evenings.
We stayed on the property 3 years ago--the addition of the shower was totally a plus!
We saw Moose by the river as well as bear tracks and scat. An eagle visited us at the cabin frequently.
I highly recommend this property if you are seeking rejuvenation!
Many thanks to Jan, Gary and the caretakers for all you do to make this property work!

Beautiful setting. High self service for price.
The Kenai lake is a beautiful setting. The cabin is quaint, but beware of all the details before booking. Yes, it is a dry cabin with no service, running water (outhouse), electricity (wood burning stove to heat the cabin)...this was all clear from the listing. It was not clear on the listing that the amenities (hot tub and sauna) take an extended period of time to prep if you would like to utilize them. The sauna takes 1.5 hours of wood loading/burning to heat up. The hot tub takes 8 hours of wood loading/burning to heat up. Unfortunately this left us unable to utilize them unless we wanted to change our plans to keep a fire going. While I would return to the cabin I do feel it is pretty overpriced for the level of service offered. Upon check out we were instructed to strip bedding, sweep the cabin and restock all the firewood we used during our three night stay (which was two wagons full). While the nightly rate was appropriate, there was a cleaning fee and steep administrative fee which made the price of this self service bare bones cabin a little pricey.
Beautiful, quiet and private
What a great experience to have our own little cabin right on the Kenai lake. The cabin was easily heated with the wood-burning stove not to mention the woodstove on the deck was the best way to spend our evenings! The perfect way to round out a fantastic Alaskan experience!
"Remote" est la description de l'Alaska d'un lieu hors du réseau routier et difficile d'accès; impliquant généralement des hydravions, des taxis d'eau, machines à neige, la randonnée ou le ski .... Nous nous sentons "à distance" mais sont à seulement 30 mètres de jardin panier de votre voiture garée ...
