Pictures Are Deceiving, Cleanliness An Issue
The size of the house is not the issue as the The Tiny House is exactly that. The location is the only positive it has going for it. The check-in process may have been simple in that we text Kyler our ETA, however he was not there on site to greet us as promised in the Ad & he left the key in the house & the door unlocked. We did not meet Kyler at all. The Ad also mentions the park pass & a pass to Green Gables. When we arrived & saw the GG pass was not there, we texted Kyler and his response was it is not included in the Park Passes for 2019 so it is not included this year. This detail was left out even though the Ad says it is included. The cleanliness & sorely lacking “fully equipped kitchen” was a very sore point. The bedroom upstairs had a cracked glass table & just the bed. There was no storage for clothes. The kitchen had no scissors, 1 single bowl (we had 4 ppl who like cereal for breakfast), 1 washcloth & 1 very dirty/stained drying towel, a few sheets left of paper towel, and dirty dishes in the cupboard. There was lip stains on the glasses & leftover food in one of the dishes. We felt uneasy using any dishes & therefore ate out for the entire stay, even though we packed food expecting to cook most of the week. The coffee maker was also broken. We messaged Kyler & he never responded to address this issue. We had to buy coffee every morning. The bathroom is redone but there is a stain on the shower floor that is sticky & did not wash away all week. There is also no outlet in the washroom and one single mirror in the entire house. This house feels very low priority and we were disappointed in our stay.
Location was Amazing!
We really enjoyed our recent stay, the property is just as described so there are no complaints that way. They have redone the paint and appears the roof is being replaced which is great. I honestly think my only comment would be the lack of interest taken by the property owner. We were very excited to get to PEI and take this vacation. I only ever received one message from the property owner and that was after I initiated and asked for check in procedures. I even went out of my way when we arrived to message the owner to say we arrived, the space is great thank you. I never even got a quick courtesy response like " enjoy your stay" "thank you "or anything. I am in hospitality myself and that is equal to poor customer service, my opinion. It may be something you need to take into consideration for future guests-it would be a nice touch.
A rustic stay
The location of this property is wonderfully set in a small fishing village on the beautiful north shore of the island and has a deck facing the water. The listing correctly stated that this is a tiny house, so be aware. Unfortunately, the bathroom and the laundry room are on the front of the cabin, so no views of the water are possible from inside. The windows are small, so you cannot get much air flow, which would have been nice to air out the place. There is an AC unit in the "living" room on the bottom floor but not upstairs where the bed is. The kitchen is clean but is very old and is not stocked very well. If you plan to be outside most of the time, the tiny house would be a rustic spot to stay. This was not quite the retreat we were looking for, but the owner did show us very good very good customer service in our stay.
Good place for a small family or a couple
The house fit our needs (1 couple and a 6 month old) well. It was pretty much as described, although my wife would say it was a bit more dated than it looked in the pictures. It's certainly not luxurious, but it worked well for us.
It would have been nice to have more than one chair to sit out on the deck.
Communication with our host was poor. I asked a question at booking, and then had to re-ask it weeks later after receiving no response. He answered one question and did not answer a different question.
The check-in process was not as described. He left the place unlocked and the key inside, which is quite different than the "call/text when you're a half hour away so I can meet you at the house" that's listed on the site.
He had to do work on the roof while we were there which altered our plans slightly.
Perfect Location !
Thank you for a Awesome stay !
Tiny House Needs More
There are both some positive and negative aspects to this property. First the positives. The property is located near the water and right in town. A pleasant view of the water can be seen from the deck. Easy access to the bike and walking trails of the National Park makes for a lovely morning or afternoon activity of visiting this beautiful shoreline. We were able to buy fresh seafood from a local seafood market and prepare our evening meal that was amazing. The property was clean and updated. The Internet was fast. There were movies on demand which was a plus on a rainy night. The bed was fairly comfortable although getting in and out of the bed was tricky due to the extremely low vaulted ceiling. There was a very new washer and dryer. The bathroom was updated.
The negatives of this property is that the house lives up to its name, the tiny house. It is not so much the square footage that made it tiny but the ceiling heights. The door frames were probably only 6 feet high. My husband and I are fairly tall and almost felt the need to duck when going between rooms. The house is not level at all, the floors were so slanted that round objects would roll on tables. I felt a bit disoriented when standing or walking in the home. We never received a welcoming email and I needed to reach out to the owner for the address and info. We were not greeted at the property. The house had no condiments at all, not even salt or pepper. There was only one coffee cup and no spatula. The bathroom had no electric outlets so I needed to dry my hair in another room. The furnishings were bare bones, no table lamps or side tables to even sit and read at night.
We have stayed in other VRBO properties and had good experiences. What made this experience a two beside the lack of amenities was the lack of customer service; not being greeted or even emailed prior to our arrival. It seemed to us that this property was just there to generate income with little thought for the customer ‘s comforts and experience.
