Decent place to sleep
The townhome was clean and had nice amenities like dishes, cookware etc... The downstairs tv had apple tv as its data source but it took me a long time to figure out how to use it. The location is nice (near the water but not on the water). Some areas of the property are showing their age like the staris leading up to the town home which are weather and have rust with some exposed sharp metal pieces.
The reservation process asked me to send in my credit card a second time over an insecure non-https internet site (very dangerous). I was able to call and give this in person but I would have been much more comfortable only giving my info to the vrbo site and not a second part. This did not leave me with a good feeling.
The checkin process was complex and overly restrictive on checkin time. I had to drive to Kalowna from Seattle which meant crossing the US/Canadian border and we were only given a 30 minute window for checkin (to be fair, they said they could be flexible on the time, however, coming internationally I could not commit any specific time). The border wait could have been anywhere from 10 minutes to hours so this meant we had to leave around 4:30 am to ensure I arrived within the window. Furthermore, the very complicated checkin process was emailed to us inside a third attachment. My phone didn't make the third attachment visible which caused quite a bit of confusion since I believed I had the full instructions for checkin but actually didn't. Furthermore, the man on the phone when I called was noticeably upset that I had to call for more information.
Pool: pool was not open the entire time we were there. It was empty when we arrived and filled the day we left but this was a bit of a disappointment for my daughter.
The checkout process was also way too early. We were there for a hockey tournament and our last game was scheduled for one hour before we had to checkout (10:00 am). That meant my wife had to stay behind and do the cleanup chores while I shuttled my daughter to the rink an hour in advance and than had to make more round trips than necessary to get my wife.
This was my first stay in a vrbo/air bnb. Honestly, it will probably be my last. The added stress of not having flexibility in checkin/checkout, having to do chores at checkout etc... made this a less than ideal stay. That said, the townhome itself was beautiful, and comfortable with very nice amenities like a bbq etc....
Hello Jackson. Thank you for your detailed review. There are a few things that we provide to our guests to help them settle in comfortably. Our online Guest Book that we sent you has information on the Apple TV's and links to more information on Apple. However, we find that most visitors these days know more than we do about the Apple TV for watching shows, movies, sports and video games! The stairs that you mentioned are scheduled to be replaced this year by the Strata Corporation. It is not in our control, but we will have new stairs soon! I'm sorry about your experience with checkin. We sent a detailed letter helping you check in using the combination locks without having to wait for someone to meet you. Every year, we receive many compliments on this. About the pool--it is open every year from the May long weekend until fall. We do mention that the pool is shut down for a good part of the year in our literature. I appreciate that you wanted to check out later than 10AM. This was the checkout time that you authorized on your agreement. We can often schedule late checkouts for guests upon request, but only if we don't have another guest arriving that day. You can appreciate that guests want their home to be clean and ready by the time they arrive. I think many of your questions could have been answered if you had contacted us directly. Could you please just call us in the future?
