A little gem
This is my second time staying at the property, and I’m already looking forward to the next time. Great apartment, great neighborhood, responsive manager. I had a wonderful time.
The location is great . Draw backs are 3 flights of stairs and small size of rooms but this is Paris. Check in guy was great
Nice, with some qualifications
First and foremost, the apt was as advertised. That’s a plus. Here are our qualified concerns, especially for foreign travelers who are not familiar with Paris or French:
The address is 52 rue. Charlot. Easy to find rue Charlot, but could not find Number 52, because it is not posted anywhere on the entry. Had no idea where to go. Just started knocking until we found it.
Third floor, just like many apartments in Paris. Better be able to climb stairs with luggage. Some in our group had trouble with that.
Apartment was IKEA-equipped. Nice looking appliances, but we could not understand or get the stove or oven to work. Yes, we are dumb Americans, but not without technology skills. Simply could not get either appliance to turn on. There were no written instructions to help us out, and we received none when we checked in (maybe my fault for not asking specifically at that time).
Beautiful new bathrooms and shower stalls with refreshing rain-shower heads. Absolutely no place to put your soap inside the shower stalls, except on the floor. Just seemed odd.
No A/C, of course, which is usual and fine. There were fans but one did not work at all. Just be prepared for warm sleeping in hot weather. Beds and pillows were comfortable. Closets were nice.
All in all, it was a good place to stay, although I believe it leans toward the too expensive side of the scale, considering that it is not located on or very near to a plaza, where one might expect to pay more.
Finally, I would say this apartment is better than most, more modern and nicer looking inside. Still, sure could have used the usual “book” or “binder” with information about the appliances and the neighborhood. We were disappointed at not being able to use the appliances because we didn’t understand how (and it wasn’t as simple as “just turning them on”). Others, especially from other European countries, may find them intuitive, but we didn’t.
But for the above, this place would have been a five star.
Wonderful Paris Apartment
This was a great apartment. It was very clean, in a great location and we had everything we needed. The size was small, but fine for 4 adults. The metro is not far. It was very easy to communicate with the owners and they were always available. We loved the cafes on the corner, especially Cafe Charlot. We will definitely stay here again when we get an opportunity to revisit Paris.
Such a cute little place in the PERFECT location!
We loved staying in this apartment. Once you make it up the 3 flights of circular stairs (there is a button for each level that activates a light), you find this quaint flat. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen had what we needed. We did get their cleaning pack with laundry and dishwasher tabs as well as a kitchen towel and sponge. There are fun restaurants at every turn. We went to a different one every night. This is flat is in the heart of a vibrant neighborhood, so expect to hear the echos of nightlife! We can’t wait to visit Paris again and would definitely choose this apartment!
